Measure of a Man with Merle Musser

(Room 105)

This is a 12 week session.

This classic series includes video and discussion sessions that will help each man begin his journey toward Christian maturity.  The Author, Dr. Gene Getz draws from Paul's maturity profile in I Timothy and Titus and outlines character traits of a Godly man.  In his simple straightforward style, Gene lays it out: "This is what a Godly man looks like.  This is what a Godly church leader, husband, businessman, pastor, or teenager should strive to become."

Here and Now...There and Then with Sandra Bailey and Cindy Younger
(Room 110)

This is a 12 week session

A video lecture series on the book of Revelation written and presented by Beth Moore. Beth presents many points of view, allowing women to decide for themselves when the interpretation varies among scholars. She teaches that God is as specific about what He does reveal as He is about what He does not reveal. A listening guide will need to be purchased and includes only light homework.

Parenting Young Children with Rev. David Weatherly

(Meets in Sam Suite, Room 100.)

This class meets during the first six week session, August 18 - September 22.

This class is for the parent(s) of younger children (typically age 8 and under). We will utilize a video series by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrot to lead discussion, share ideas, exchange stories, and gain insight into the always rewarding and equally challenging experience of raising children. This is not about the techniques of getting kids to eat their broccoli or clean their room. It takes a Biblical approach into the traits parents want their children to have and what traits they want their children to see modeled in them.

God's Grace and Universal Promise of Salvation with Rev. Wright Pillow

(Room 107)

This class meets during the first six week session, August 18 - September 22.

The central focus of Methodist belief and mission is our understanding of God’s grace and promise of salvation for all and our free will to accept or reject that promise.  In this course we will consider the grace of God as the source of our salvation as we grow in our understanding of God’s prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying grace. We will survey the means by which God’s grace is available to us. We will reflect on how these understandings affect our identity, character and mission as Christians.

Espresso Group with Sherry Douglas and Betsy Campany

(Meets in Room 108)

Many of our church members have experienced the rewards of Espresso Small Groups.  It is again being offered as an opportunity to grow in your faith, make new connections, and experience a taste of small groups.  The study is by Andy Stanley, entitled, “Community: Your Pathway to Progress”.  It is a six session opportunity utilizing a video and discussion format.  Will begin meeting August 25th.

When Faith, Patriotism and Nationalism Clash with Rev. Earl David

(Meets in Room 101B/C)

This class meets in the second six week session, September 29 - November 10

This will be an open forum and participants may discuss any topic that they wish, nothing is off limits.  We will look at the topics concerning:

Politics: good, bad, for, against, term limits, elections, and whatever else you have on your mind.

Faith: what you think and why, how does it apply or not apply to the topics under discussion.

Current headlines: the Gulf oil spill, immigration, drugs, the economy.

Nationalism: what do you think?  peace, war, alternatives.

We will use some video, newspaper stories, and whatever you choose to bring that will help us to work through these issues.  Don’t bring! A closed mind, or a thin skin. For further information please contact Rev. David. You can reach him at 849 -- 6466.

Power of Prayer for Adult Children with Rev. Angela Harris

(Meets in Room 107)

This class meets in the second six week session, September 29 - November 10

This class will focus on supporting parents of grown children, and discuss how to encourage and pray for your children after they have “grown up”.  We will study Stormie Omaritan’s book that is the same title as this class and will discuss and pray together each week.  There will be short weekly readings in this class.  Participants will be encouraged to purchase this book as we journey together.
